Fire Estimator / Fire Services Estimator

Position Overview

Role: Fire Estimator / Fire Services Estimator Engagement: Part-Time Hours: 4–5 hours per day (12PM - 5PM AEST) The client is looking for a part-time Fire Estimator to support fire services estimating and take-off requirements across Australian projects. The ideal candidate should have practical experience in fire service estimating and take-offs, with exposure to both wet and dry fire systems.

Key Responsibilities

The role will primarily involve estimating for:

  • Refurbishment projects

  • New/fresh construction projects

  • Commercial projects, particularly supermarkets

  • Wet fire works, with sprinkler systems being the primary focus

Must Have Skills

Experience

  • 2–3+ years of relevant experience in fire services estimating and take-offs.

  • Strong practical understanding of both wet and dry fire systems.

  • Hands-on experience reviewing project documentation and preparing estimates/take-offs.

  • Experience working on Australian projects is essential.

  • Strong understanding/exposure to relevant Australian Standards, particularly AS 2118.1.

  • Ability to assess drawings and documentation practically rather than simply following templates.

Technical Capability

Candidate should be able to:

  • Perform accurate fire services take-offs.

  • Prepare estimates based on project drawings and documentation.

  • Understand sprinkler systems and wet fire requirements.

  • Review documentation and identify required inclusions, exclusions and clarification questions.

  • Assess project requirements and identify potential issues or missing information.

  • Work independently while communicating effectively with the client.

3. Software

Procore experience: Preferred but not mandatory.

The client uses Procore in a specific workflow, so the successful candidate may require training. The client is willing to provide training, provided the candidate has the right technical capability and learning ability.

Prior experience with other relevant estimating/take-off software can also be considered.

Preferred Skills

  • Technically strong in fire estimating and take-offs.

  • Comfortable working with both wet and dry fire systems.

  • Strong with sprinkler estimating.

  • Experienced with Australian projects and standards.

  • Practical and detail-oriented when reviewing drawings and specifications.

  • Able to identify inclusions, exclusions and questions independently.

  • A good communicator who can collaborate during the overlap period.

  • Comfortable learning new systems and workflows.

  • A quick learner who can be trained on the client's specific Procore process.
